Someone was asking about our house performance. They were shocked we haven't had a fire yet. I thought it would be cool to have a indoor and outdoor thermometer and save the data for a year. Noting when we light our first fire and our last.

What are you asking? There's no question in either post.

Auto reporting stats to your website?

If that's the case, some kind of equipment that can log to a computer file and then run an automated update like a cronjob on Linux. It would require an always on computer though to act as server.

no, don't want it on the website, just a way to save the temp data to a sim card or hard drive, etc, kind of like a trail cam, but a thermometer, was wondering if any one knew of anything that was off the shelf that was capable of doing it

They have them, but they're not cheap (for what they are).

Google combinations such as "Wireless, wifi, weather station, weather logger, temperature logger"

In that case you can just buy a small usb temperature datalogger for about 40$.
