The first full-scale Hyperloop, a new transportation method dreamed up by entrepreneur Elon Musk, will be built in central California next year.

The five-mile (8km) test track will be built halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The system uses depressurised tubes, as well as magnets and fans, to propel up to 28 people at a time at high speeds.

If your going to go broke at least test the boundaries of what is possible.

Our state is is definitely not in good shape, but this is a project I have been waiting to see how it works out. Could be the future, or like so many other huge projects here it could be a massive flop.

Having Elon Musk behind it inspires more confidence than usual.

I completely agree, "inspiring" is a good word to convey what Musk brings to society.

can't wait to see it in action

Mr Musk has described the design as a cross between Concorde, a railgun and an air hockey table.

Waiting to hear the first news report of the person who got pulverised into goo with that description Laugh

Yeah that's my first question, how much g-force is this going to put a person through starting and stopping. I'm sure they have all the tech figured out, but as we all know technology fails time to time.

looks like it's a go

A test track for Elon Musk’s Hyperloop project—which is designed to ferry passengers between major cities at record speeds—will reportedly be under construction in the next two or three weeks.
