Good call. I'll tamp first as my beams are 36" deep but then I will recut the 45degree angle. The civil engineer specified a 6x6 chamfer at that transition but extra concrete can't hurt.

Thanks for the quick response!

other option would be just to pour the footers and then come back and pour the slab if you didn't want to do a monolithic

Yeah, but I would need to resubmit plans and pay for a second set of plans to be produced.

Had the plumber come by today to quote the rough in and moving the gas line but he refuses to do anything other than sheath the gas line and will only do the rough in if he does the whole job (all the way to fixture placement). Price? $3450.

I'm reluctant to accept it but don't have another plumber lined up at this point. Seems really pricey for the work.

Also, you cannot have a 90degree coupler inside of the sheathing and the sheathing couldn't be continuous.

If I was a clever man, I would be tempted to just chop the gas line a few feet before the future slab, cut a trench around the perimeter, and refill it before the inspector shows up. However, I don't want to be the one on the news.

This actually seems like my best bet: 1" by 75' polyethylene. I will need to dig out to the closest unions and then run the pipe. To permit or not to permit.

Yeah, I went to the plumbing supply store this morning only to realize that they don't even sell to the public. My only concern with the permitting is that they will likely want to pressure test the system up to some value and presumably, as the system is 60 years old this year, it will not pass. Then we'll have to dig under the slab to replace those lines or go through the attic to install new drops.

Bend over budget.

the joys of remodeling, I was so happy when we got rid of our apartment buildings, all the waste lines were cast iron, what a nightmare every time we had to do a repair or replacement

Long overdue. The gas line is now run around the perimeter, just gonna leave it at that. Now on to the fun stuff.

Looks like the wife is fine with me doing the slab so I'll continue there. No plumber (except for one apprentice that tried to get me to put galvanized piping in the ground for gas) would do just the rough in, they all want the whole job (through fixtures) and the best price I've received is $3400.

So can anyone see anything wrong with the DWV below? I'd love to join the two vents somehow but I'm not entirely sure how. I'm basically using the 3" toilet as a soil stack.
