ummm...don't have my list with me...but there is Ionization and I think photocell for smoke...they do the same thing, it's the way they do it...one is better for anything near the kitchen (Ionization I think he said there) it won't react as sensitive to burning something on the stove. The photocell is quicker to react to smoke and is good for outside bedroom and top of stairs. In the attic and garage and utility room (This one I am sure on) we are going to put heat detectors, not code, but for safety, I will sleep better at night. All smoke detectors have to be interconnected when wiring them up.

I have to check on CO detectors, Not sure if they have to be hard wired or can be plug ins with battery back up...I think they have to be 18 or 24 inches off the floor.

Great question...I think this is a good way to go for our utility room...plus a heat detector.
