let's do this, the snow is driving me nuts, what's on the board for this years gardens? several of these are going in the new garden space

This is so cool.  Start your peas and have them shade your spinach and lettuce when it gets hot!

Just occurred to me, cover it with chicken wire in the summer and let the girls at the spring scraps, then plant your late summer/fall crop and cover it with 6mm visqueen for the winter.

that's a good idea, we are kind of doing that with the run now utilizing grape vines, but when we build the worshop, that's all getting ripped out

I'm going to do my usual. I probably won't do potatoes any more. :-(

I've applied for a grant for a high tunnel. If I get it I am going to make a bigger effort to have a winter garden.

Does anyone have any passive solar Ideas for high tunnels? I know they are not very energy efficient and it isn't my first choice for a green house, but If I get  grant, I'll go for it.

I'd like to add more perennials like ground nuts, ground cherries etc. Anyone have any seeds to share of these?

I also applied for a ginseng and ramp grant.

I left the ground cherry pods sitting on the ground, once the snow melts, I'll grab one, dry it out and send to you.

Elliot Coleman is your man Spotted, I know you are limited on data, but if there is any way you can watch this, it will be very beneficial to you

I spent some time writing in my garden journal, I'm getting the bug also.

This year I'm going to build a raised bed for the elderly lady next door.  She's doesn't get out much, she's afraid to drive, so my wife and I look after her.  I do her grocery shopping and thought I'd plant the vegetables she usually has me get from the store-lettuce, spinach, onions, green peppers, celery, tomatoes, turnips, and radishes.  I'll probably make it out of 2 courses of cinder block and the build a cedar bench around the top so she can sit while she gardens.

I really want to ressurect my mini CSA.  Two of my wife's friends have already expressed interest in shares.  It puts a little pressure on me to get going and stay motivated throughout the summer.

I'll do the normal grow-a-row for the local food bank.

I've been getting antsy, I may look into some LED grow lights at the "organic vegetable grower's supply" so I can get started early.

is the "organic vegetable grower's supply" a code word for a head shop?
