anyone have a idea for a diy rake I can drag behind the 4 wheeler to smooth everything out? I don't have a old mattress or I would use the spring from that

Section of fence, attach a board to the end, and drag from the board with cinder blocks on the back.

THIS works... I've got a similar setup.

So we started out yesterday hauling the composting leaves and bark pile that we got from the tree service first, we figured it would be a good base layer

this stuff was a pain to grade out and rake out, there were so many little twigs that it would just roll like a ball

we decided to leave a island of grass around the gazebo,my wife is going to plant these with flowers

we used pretty much all of it for a base layer, which was only about 40 yards, I still had 125 yards of the good chips, uh, I might have ordered a little much

at this point my wife and daughter were looking at me like I was crazy, they were not impressed with how it was turning out, to be honest I was starting to question it, but I just said, wait till after we put the good chips down, so we started hauling them in

these went down much better and was easier to rake out

after a couple hours we got the majority of it covered

so we needed to make a drag rake for behind the 4 wheeler, so we stole my neighbors grill from his fire pit, well borrowed would be the more correct term I guess and newsettler started stacking the firepit blocks on it

testing out the contraption

it worked okay but I needed something bigger with bigger holes in it, so I ran to the store to grab something better, the pile was getting smaller

so I picked up a 4x6 piece of fencing

much better

it was starting to come together and look good

we had some ground cherries growing, so I saved the little plant

the big apple tree was in the way by my dads deck, it only produces a couple apples a year and I am concerned how close it is to my dads cabin

so it had to go

bye little tree

and in the process of moving our solar dehydrator that was loaded with hornets nests, it got dropped, need to do some repairs on that

next thing I know newsettlers daughter was walking around the yard with a chicken, she is the new chicken whisperer

so we finished hauling what we needed and stacked the left over materials behind the side berm

cleared up the driveway

patched the ruts under the fence

and spent the rest of the night grading

today we have some more hand raking to do, drag the dirt, seed and straw it, and start digging fence holes

You guys got a lot of work done. That must have been hard with your wife, and even you, questioning the direction. Especially when you are so committed to the change. I am interested to see how it turns out with the fence and everything else.

Did the little Case help out?
