but, but, fracking is safe!

The US state of Pennsylvania has released details of 243 cases where regulators concluded that oil or gas exploration contaminated or otherwise ruined drinking water wells.
The state's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) released a link to the documents, the Associated Press reported.

Click here to see the entire list.

The AP is among a number of media outlets over the years that have adopted legal means to force the disclosure of the records. The news wire said it is the first time DEP has released a comprehensive list.

The cases range from 2008 to this year. In several instances, multiple wells were affected.

Pollution includes methane contamination attributed to drilling, wastewater spills and wells that went dry.

The township of Dimock in Susquehanna County, long championed by many celebrity 'fracktivists', leads the list with 19 separate incidents all taking place in December of 2010. The town of Hickory in Forest County also shows up more than a dozen times, with most of those incidents traced to an incident in March of 2012.

Other complaints are still being investigated.

Just this week, DEP ordered WPX Energy to replace the drinking water of three homeowners after their activities weredeemed responsible for tainted drinking water.

Despite proven  scientific evidence it continues. The Halliburton exemption as it is called exempts them from EPA clean water requirements.
