The previous owner of our place planted thousands of pine trees. We got an article in the paper, I made a posting on Craigslist, and put some signs on the end of the road. We made ~$1,400 selling trees this past weekend. They are kind of wild and natural so not sure how many more I will sell over the next few weekends. Enough to cover fencing for the cattle in the spring, I imagine.

KVR, we need to talk cattle. I want to ship some out from Maine.

If you are serious I will call my breeder and check out the logistics and legalities of that, or just take a 15 hour road trip.

Congrats on the tree sale, that is quite a haul

I'm pretty serious. They go for $1k and up here per calf. At $350 each plus shipping them out here I would be interested in 4. Not sure if it is financially worth it if the distance, fuel, etc. charges are high. I know there are shipping services for equipment like tractors and such but don't know if such services exist for livestock.

Today we mulch one of our garden beds with leaves. Had to pick at the top of the dirt to break it up (a bit froze), but the leaves have just now fallen so we had to wait to have them Smile. Definitely need to get an attachment for our lawn mower so that we can gather the chopped up mulch as we clear the weed growth in spring time (we don't have a lawn, just large 'yard' area that needs cutting down).

My personal motto - The Home, a peace worth fighting for.

I think it's time to lock the boys up in the back field, ice is starting to set on the pond, really don't want to be dragging one out of it

yesterday I finally got outside of my yard mulched.  Bought 14 round bales from local-ish farmer.  Have used 4 so far...its so nice not looking at mud after many years of that soul sucking view.
