np willie, I'm finally setting up the replacement system today, I decided to try and clean out our old system and see if I could get it working, was able to get it to limp along the last couple months, well it finally gave up the ghost, will let you know how it goes

it's the one I had ordered this spring, while waiting for it to be delivered I messed with cleaning out our old one and was able to get it going again, only thing that stinks is the cameras are different connectors so I get to get up in the attic and rerun the wires all day, oh joy

quick thoughts so far, got the wires ran and hooked everything up,

success so far

the pic above is with all lights on, so I decided to turn them off

the only ambient light in the pic above is coming from our pos monitors, the entryway in ch 1 is about 25 feet away from the camera, like I said in a earlier post, our restaurant is broken open into sections so our needs are less than 30 feet viewing. Channel 2 is looking out the back door to the parking lot, it's hard to make out but the black thing in the top left is our animal trailer which is about 50 feet away. Not a horrible pic, but I wish the field of view was better, I am going to upgrade this camera for sure.

it is all controlled by this

with the brief amount of time I have been playing with it, this is probably the simplest interface I have seen with dvr's that I have used, the one we have for our house you have to enter your password everytime you want to do something and is a major pain in the ass. Plus entering search parameters for playback is insane. This one, you hit menu

9560317364_a2f1173878_c.jpg

you arrow over to playback and pick the date you want, the dvr records in 60 minute blocks, so you just pick the block you want to review

only issue right now is setting up the router to allow viewing through my cell phone and Ipad, I followed all the directions for port forwarding on the router and set up a server for the dvr, but am getting a log in error, they have 24/7 support so I am going to call them now to see what's up, the only other complaint I have is the manual, I hate when they put a manual in pdf and just give you a disc, I want a book that I can hold and read, other than that pretty happy so far

well, messed around till about 1 am and couldn't figure it out, I called the help desk and was on hold for 15 minutes and hung up. So I called back this morning and was able to get through in a couple minutes, told the tech what was up, he logged into my computer, checked my settings, I logged him into my router, he changed a couple port numbers and we are good to go.

thoughts, I like it, probably going to order the 8 channel dvr and replace the one in our house with this one. That way i can add 4 more cameras. I have it set up now so I can view from my phone, ipad and set it up on one of our pos terminals over a lan connection so I can totally remove the monitor. Unless you knew exactly what it was and where it was, outside of the cameras, no one would even know everything was recorded if we got broken into again. Probably going to upgrade the outside with some better cameras so I have a better field of view. Plus it will give us a better view of the back side of our house.

looking at these, they have the best ratings on amazon

I've been thinking of these ones as well, more expensive but higher resolution and have 100 foot view
