There's a new Concealed Carry law the just passed committee and is up for a vote now here in WV. The new law would make it legal to carry a firearm without being required to get a permit. As it stands now, the permit is only an 8 hour course pretty much anyone can take and the cost is affordable: most places only charge fifty to one hundred dollars. While this will allow you to carry in WV, if you desire reciprocity in other states with such an agreement with WV you would still need to get a permit.

I'm honestly kind of on the bubble about this one. While I'm normally a huge advocate for gun rights and freedom, I'm not sure I can get behind this one. Especially when you take into consideration a few of the other gun laws here.

I don't like the idea of zero accountability.

I don't like the thought of a person whom has never handled a weapon before being able to go to a gun store, get an instant background check, and walk out the door with a gun in their trousers.

I don't like the idea of someone who hasn't had any training being the one shooting at the bad guy because lets face it, those bullets go someplace if they miss.

I don't like the fact that you can do a face-to-face transfer here in WV with another private individual with no background check, just a bill of sale. No questions asked. Then go walk around with a potentially stolen firearm, or one that has been used in a crime.

Thoughts?

We have a lot of the same laws here in Maine, personally when I have dealt with a private sale, I still go to my ffl and do a transfer to protect myself from a stolen fire arm or one in my name being used in the commission of a crime.

We had a bill submitted as well for constitutional carry

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Vermont and Wyoming all have constitutional carry. Vermont has always had it and is considered one of the safest states. I've been looking for crime statistics for the other 4 since they have enacted it when I saw the news article above but can't find anything yet.

So sounds like you have something similar up there then. Do you have any concerns about someone who's not experienced with firearms carrying one around? That's the main thing that bothers me about it. As it stands now, it's really easy for anyone who wants a permit to get one, you just have to take a safety course and put in the application. Not hard at all but at least everyone who has it has some basic training on being safe and responsible.

Not really, anyone can go in and get a gun now as it is. If someone is a deranged person, they are going to carry one anyways whether or not they take a gun safety class and have a permit.

I took the gun safety course up here when I got my ccw because mine from Pa had expired. The class was pretty much a joke. He handed out the answers to the test and talked about black rail road cars in colorado for 3 hours. We never spent any time on the range. I'm not even joking, I wish I was.

Maybe I'm over-thinking this. I should probably just be happy I'm not in CA anymore where you can't even say "GUN"...

Yeah, remember the conspiracy theories over the FEMA camps from several years ago?

There over 800 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general's signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached. Ask yourself if you really want to be on Ashcroft's list.

The Rex 84 Program was established on the reasoning that if a "mass exodus" of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA. Rex 84 allowed many military bases to be closed down and to be turned into prisons.

Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two sub programs which will be implemented once the Rex 84 program is initiated for its proper purpose. Garden Plot is the program to control the population. Cable Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the state and local governments by the federal government. FEMA is the executive arm of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register also are part of the legal framework for this operation.

The camps all have railroad facilities as well as roads leading to and from the detention facilities. Many also have an airport nearby. The majority of the camps can house a population of 20,000 prisoners. Currently, the largest of these facilities is just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. The Alaskan facility is a massive mental health facility and can hold approximately 2 million people.

He said he has a friend in Colorado that has seen miles of rail road cars painted black sitting in the woods on rails, had shackles and everything inside them

Someone once took a trip to the supposed FEMA camp here in Maine

I really wanted to show him that video

I had a discussion with a friend who is a certified NRA instructor a couple days later, I don't think the dude is teaching the class anymore. We were all sitting there dumbfounded as he was telling us all this.
