Kim.  I had to go in front of the Zoning Board of Appeals for a variance to build my house.  (code states house needs to be a minimum of 1,500 sq ft)  I was the first to challenge it...and I won.  Anyhow...I put a 3 ring binder together with about 18 sections on why this home of alternative construction made sense. Packed full of relevant work, publications, etc.  (Speed loved it when I showed him)  I did a lot of over kill.  I went way beyond what I needed to do.  But now I have a heck of a resource.  Can help ya out with something like this if ya go this way.

The following users say thank you to Gravel Road for this useful post:

Really????  Everything in my 'book' is a compilation of the work of others...I documented the sources though.

I don't think too many would be interested in it...besides you, Speed, Bishop and a couple of other's have done a pretty thorough job of documentation already (for free).

I think our place will look a little different than your guys...not as much like a bunker and maybe a bit more 'residential looking'...same low tech approach.

More of a step by step with how to deal with Code Enforcement, detail what you included in your binder, etc. Doesn't have to be huge, there are plenty of 20 page how tos for the kindle that sell for .99 to 2.99
