Hello all,

After having much luck on another forum based off of riding dirt bikes and adventure bikes, I tried to find more forums that helped me learn and sparked my interest.

Born in Alaska, I think surviving in the wilderness, the nobility of self sufficiency, the search for adventure, and the rush of being outdoors was in my blood. Now living in California, I've always felt out of place here and I frequent very long journeys across the country and I try my best to stay on dirt roads and find hidden places in the wilderness. Being active duty military doesn't allow me much time, but I manage.

After 4 long years in the service, I realized this lifestyle and large cities just wasn't for me, so for the next 2 years after that I have been saving money and doing a lot of research trying to find the ideal place to buy a few acres of land and build my own house. Living off-grid and gathering my own food seems like something I was born to do, and I hope this forum will help me along the way. Thanks for reading.

Welcome! As a former Californian myself allow me to recommend... Southern Oregon!

The Sprague River / Klamath Falls area is pretty awesome. Land is relatively affordable and it's situated amongst some state forests and such. Check it out!
