that's how much our health insurance is going up in 2017, currently pay 900 a month for crap insurance, this is insanity. I'm seriously thinking of getting a job.

if only employers were hiring people. Unfortunately they arent because it costs so much to have employees.

I tell ya, I am grateful daily for my job and the healthcare that comes with it. We pay $250 a month for a family of 5... As most of you know, I work in Flint and there are a ton of people who complain about things now and how "back when GM was here in Flint, we didn't have to pay anything for our healthcare blah blah blah"...  Personally, I am grateful for what I have. Sorry to hear it's going up again KVR; that sucks. 🙁

You could look into the health sharing thing. I think there's a company called health excellence select that does it. Meets the obamacare mandate and supposedly its pretty affordable. Not sure about the coverage and such since I have insurance through my job and havent looked into it further. Might be worth a phone call to look into if youre paying that much.

I have decided to take the Maine ALERT and PT test for the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, it is something I have always wanted to do and am at a point in my life where it is something I able to, kind of excited about it.

Taking the test and pt today, perfect timing, came down with a chest infection. Been pumping mucinex and a zpack into me the last 48 hours. Feeling pretty good.

For my age group have to do 29 situps, 18 push ups and a mile and a half in 13:50. To qualify for the troopers it is 31, 21, 13:12.

Did a test run on Sunday and hit 32, 40 and 12:12 time. I feel confident.

A local sheriff is very interested in me coming on with them, downside is would have to move because they have a 5 mile radius rule for the county line. Upside is that we have the 30 acres of land within 2 miles of the county line that my wife and I have been planning on building the cabin on.

I had talked to my local chief about a year or so ago about the process of going on part time. Decided to stop in and talk to the town manager with the intent of getting a referral from him for the application. He said I should just work for the town.

I replied that I only have two concerns with that, one I am on the select board and was informed I would have to give up my seat if I was on the PD.

He said I would not but I would have to recuse myself when we are going over the police budget during our budgeting process.

I said the other concern is being a business owner in town, everyone knows me and I would hate for someone to take a retaliatory action against it because I pulled them over or gave a ticket, etc.

He replied that everyone knowing me already is actually a huge benefit and I am a respected member of the community. He stated that he has been in a supervisory position as the town manager or police chief for over 30 years and has upset quite a few people over that time and has never had an issue.

Pay for both is about the same, low 40's starting, benefits are about the same, town might have a slightly better pension plan. Sheriff gives a take home vehicle for full time but would be about a 40 minute commute through back country mountains. Local pd is literally two minutes from my front door. Sheriff works four 10's with two shifts, they have oncall overlap from two to six a.m. I believe. Pd works a rotational five 8 I believe.

Have some thinking to do, wife likes the idea of local, it's a quiet town of less than 5000 people, county would be much larger obviously. I need to find out which one has the best tuition reimbursement program so I can go back and finish my degree and work towards a police chief somewhere, a man has to have goals.

Will let you guys know how the day goes, suppose to go meet with the sheriff and his staff after my testing is complete, I have known him for over ten years but he wants me to meet everyone.
