Starship Enterprise here I come!

“Star Trek” introduced the world outside of rocket science circles to the concept of warp drive – the propulsion system that allowed the starship Enterprise to travel faster than the speed of light. Warp speed is the holy grail that would let us explore the universe safely surrounded and protected by a space-distorting warp field. After watching the SpaceX rocket recently just try to land on a platform, you’d think this ability is years if not decades away. Yet the buzz on space websites is that NASA may have accidentally discovered a way to create a warp field. Wait, what?

I stopped reading any further when I followed the link. Looks like the article you're citing is from a tinfoil hat website. The article has no recognizable sources cited. It cites a web-forum which in turn makes other citations. I followed one of those sources to a Wikipedia page which in turn finally cited a source from NASA. However, it is citing a presentation created for an organization of Interstellar Travel enthusiasts.

Any time I need to dig this deep and expend this much effort to verify sources, my skeptical red flags go up. While there may be some kind of legitimate source to be found by reading more and digging deeper, someone else can do it. I found nothing to verify the claim the article makes of an "accidental discovery". I'm calling B.S. on this one.

Don't know, but more news outlets are picking up the story and are sourcing people that work for NASA I believe. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.
