Here is a simple crock pot beans and pork recipe. In our continued effort to only eat out of our pantry, fresh fruits, vegetables and nothing processed, I wanted to throw something quick and simple together.
So I dumped a pound of white beans in the crock pot
and 2 cups of diced onions
I added 6 cups of water and salt and pepper
I had asked my wife to grab a ham steak out of the freezer the night before while I was at work so it could thaw, well I went and grabbed it out of the fridge and realized she had grabbed one of our unsmoked hams, not a smoked one, oh well into the pot it went
I set it on low and left it alone for 4 hours, I pulled the lid and stirred up the pot
two hours later I pulled out the ham steak and shredded up the meat and threw it back into the pot
and two hours later it was ready to eat
There was enough to feed 3 grown adults with leftovers, so it would be a cheap meal to eat throughout the week for a single person for about 5 dollars, gonna make sure to use a smoked ham next time to give some more flavoring.
