lol, true, I'm trying to figure out how it works, it looks like a rocket stove, but that cross piece looks really small for drafting, and is that whole thing a cooking area?

I suspect the flat area functions like a griddle/grill.  I envision that flat pan is actually a coal box.  You put it on the bottom if you want to use the top surface as a griddle or you put it on top with the grate on it if you want to use it like a traditional grill.

Considering there is/are wire handles on that one end, maybe that functions as a coal chimney?
