To realize the largest capacity for my footprint I hope to buy/instal 6-10 300w panels in the next ~60 days.

My comparison of Canada Solar(Chinese $.98/w), Renogy(Chinese $.90/w) and Solarworld(US $1.10/w) has lead me to the Indian-made Sonali panel ($.82/w); has anyone here on the homesteading boards completed any kind of comparison (efficiency, warranty, cost, etc) of 300w panels that I might use/refer to as part of my selection process?

Any help would be kindly appreciated!

welcome Pat, where are you thinking of buying your panels from? Or have you just been pricing between different retailers? @porkchopsmmm might have some good feedback for you

Thanks K.

Pat -- My first question would be how you plan on mounting them? I ask because 300 watt panels are usually larger in dimensionally then other panels. If you are good with the sizing of the panels and the number that you have then the higher the wattage of the panels then the more efficient your costs and wire runs will be for building an array that will meet you panel needs.

What charge controller are you going to go with?

I'm not a fan of Canadian Solar personally. However I can tell you I just installed about 20 MW (20,000,000 watts) of it this last quarter. They have been around for a long time and seem to have a decent track record.

I am a fan of SolarWorld. I'm an authorized installer. I've done a bunch of work with them and have had great experiences every time and great production on every system.

Right now its a weird time in panel manufacturing. There's companies that opening doors today that will be the "toyota" of tomorrow. But its very difficult to tell who will even be around tomorrow. All panels are not created equal and the extra money will pay off in the long run.
