I don't know enough about fracking to make an informed post but I do agree with Letterman "We are screwed". I have also heard that residents have been able to light their water on fire long before fracking occurred in the area(probably oil company propaganda) so... In any case we should know 100% of the chemicals they are using.

Here is a Link for more info and videos on the subject.

"Youngstown, Ohio, which also sits on the Marcelles Shale, had no measurable earthquakes between the time that observation records began in 1776 to January of 2011. Since the Northstar 1 injection well began in December of 2010 in nearby Pennsylvania, however, the town has recorded 109 earthquakes."  link

Pros

-Enough natural gas to fuel the U.S.A for 105 years in Texas alone.

Cons

-Incredible destructive to the environment and health of those living nearby.

-Causes earthquakes

IMO we should only be fracking under extreme conditions like all the oil supply's running dry. Not ruining our environment just to ship the gas over seas. Funny because I never really looked at fracking as a bad thing until I just googled some about it.

I can confirm the water lighting has happened long before fracking, at least in the area I was born in
