I have mixed feelings about this, this teenager basically took the clay pot cooler and modernized it but they did mention it at the bottom of the article

yeah, I could see where a metal interior would be better for transfer of heat

And it seems to me you could improve on this technology by using an ideal inner container (aluminum??) a better outer container (not sure what the ideal material would be) and a better medium in between the two (once again, not sure what's best).
