No, I searched high and low at the best scrap yard around. I placed an order with Grainger for 8 pieces of 20ft Unistrut -- but this time galvanized. $42 a stick. More than I wanted to pay but I could not figure out another way. I will pick them up on Friday. Pics to come of me trying to drive down the road with the 20ft sticks strapped to the top of my minivan.

I hope to pick up the solar panels on Saturday while we are out of town with the install beginning in earnest next Monday.

Brah, my minivan can hold 10ft long lumber in sheltered comfort. Plus, the solar panels I pick up on Saturday will be protected from the elements or thieving hands. Try that with a pick up!

Just kidding... wish they made a sub $3k truck that was diesel, got great MPG, was small but with a long bed. I don't think my dream truck exists.

KVR, I think you are jelly of my minivan. Proof below.

8 pieces of 20' Unistrut on top. A little dicey but I have definitely done worse.

Pulling up to the barn.

Bearing grease -- added to the top of the pole mount.

Pole mount on.

Unistrut on the ground.

Panels picked up -- I got a flat tire on the way. That really sucked.

Horizontal pole up. This took some thinking -- I got one end up on the pole, strapped it down so it wouldn't fall off, and kept pushing it until it leveled out.

Plans for tomorrow are to cut the Unistrut, hang it on the horizontal pole and attach the new panels. If I can get all of that done then I will consider myself in a good spot.

looking good pork, are all your panels going to be up on that? And yes, I'm jealous of the van, you just need to put some spinners on it!

Yes, all 12 panels will be up there. Each panel weighs ~50lbs -- so it will be holding a lot. I was going to build 2 pole mounts each holding 6 panels but I didn't want all of the extra work and expense, figured I would just beef up the one pole mount and get 'er done.

EDIT: -- KVR can you delete the "Guest" post?
