German researchers have built shoe-sized devices that harvest power from the act of walking.
The technology could be used to power wearable electronic sensors without the need for batteries.

It might be unobtainable (or impractical due to cost), but what they need is a flash drive size rechargeable battery that you could then use to recharge your device or possibly plug right into your device. The issue with the shoe charger is that it's impractical due to location. If you make it so you could put a small, unobtrusive, removable rechargeable battery there, it would be a game changer. Although the other issue is that there's only a portion of the population could benefit from this. A lot of people drive mostly, and walk very little.
