anyone else have a issue with self driving cars?

We're one step closer to a real-life Knight Rider car

Electric car maker Tesla revealed new, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Model S sedans on Thursday night called the “D” range, the fastest of which can hit 60mph from a dead stop in a shocking 3.2 seconds. Musk said driving the high-tend new Tesla is “like taking off from a carrier deck,” according to Slate, which makes it sound pretty fun to drive — but it’s actually far from the most impressive thing about Tesla’s newest rides.

Instead, that honor belongs to Tesla’s new “Autopilot Mode,” a suite of self-driving features that use radar and other sensors to help you do things like stay in your lane and get out of the way of dogs, pedestrians or other obstacles that have somehow gotten in front of your Tesla.

But the best part is this: Say you’ve got a home and a parking spot or garage where you regularly stash your Tesla — that is, when you’re not out on the streets pretending you’re piloting a very low-flying intergalactic spaceship. The Tesla’s Autopilot Mode will learn the layout of your pad, meaning you’ll be able to pull up to your house curbside, get out, then let the Tesla tuck itself in every night automatically. There’s even talk of it doing the opposite: Letting you hail your Tesla so it can pick you up as you head out the door.

The Model S D will be available starting at the end of the year, with the base models around $71,000 and the high-end cars topping out at $120,170.

i have issues with how they blatantly lie and get away with it because elon and obama are tight.

their performance claims are for literally optimal conditions. i posted this over on the OG, but i know a few guys that have bought them and sold them in under a year because the performance was nothing like what was claimed. on top of that, they make you sign agreements stating you will not, under any circumstances, post issues you've had with your tesla online unless its on their forum. the only time you're allowed to bad mouth one is after you've sold it or if you've never owned one.

if/when the political party changes in the white house elon may be in trouble. he won't get the preferential treatment or financial benefits he's come to expect from the obama whitehouse.

The following users say thank you to Mr.-Negative for this useful post:

yep.

here's the deal.

they proclaim an average of 265 per charge. that's with 1 person in the weighing no more than 150lbs driving the speed limit using no heat or air conditioning. super realistic conditions aren't they?

in reality, if you load it up with two adults, drive anywhere from 5-10 mph over the limit and run the A/C or heat on a regular basis you see that 265 average drop down to 170-180 miles on a charge. the owner of my company drove his from newport coast to the gas lamp district in san diego, approximately 85 miles. he had a full charge when he left the house, but after driving there with his approximately 115lb girlfriend, 8 year old daughter and 13 year old son driving 70-75mph (speed limit is 65) and running the A/C the whole time he arrived with a charge remaining of approximately 90 miles. he then drove around frantically looking for a charge so that he could be sure he had enough charge to make it home.

they're very popular out here in orange county and i usually see 2-3 a day. except all but one of othe guys i know has sold it and that 1 guy that bought it and loved it, well he voted for obama, so...yeah...lol

i used to work for a company that made hybrid systems and battery packs for industrial application.

What the battery specialists that worked with me always told me is : Never trust a battery salesman.
