A article from Rolling Stone on factory farming of animals, I think this is a big reason for the surge of people looking for local farm raised meat.
Starting with chickens and possibly other birds. I can't convince the husband about rabbits. I told him the breeders he could attach to and he didn't have to visit the babies as they grow. We do have a local butcher if we ever went the pig route or raised something for dairy and need help. I haven't yet explained the implications of the later to him... being raised in the city this is totally out there to him. I'm going to try the "here, watch food, inc." and similar docs route because contrasting that to a well cared for farm life.. oy!
