I think I have worn down the wife.

She asked me if I had ordered this years pigs and if I was raising for anyone else this year, I said no I had not ordered yet, and was thinking instead of raising for others, just raising a couple extras and charging per pound.

In the past we have had people just pay for the piglet and I figure out feed costs at the end of the year and have them pay their portion and they take care of processing. I don't make any money, but I do enjoy raising the animals, well one guy from last year still hasn't paid for his feed yet. It's under 200 dollars, but still it's 200 bucks.

So then I made the comment, actually I was thinking of not raising the pigs this year.

She stopped short, why not?

Well, I was thinking of raising miniature dexters this year, they only get about 42-48 inches tall can get up to 700 pounds and it is something we haven't done yet, besides their cute.

So she did the mocking thing, "besides their cute" and walked away.

As any man would do, I took that as a green light.

So I called a friend who raises beef and asked him if he knew anyone local who raises miniature dexter's. Well he does, I told him I wanted two and to have the guy contact me.

Will report back.

not sure how I am going to sneak them by the wife yet :(

Wish I could find some here for 300 a piece. From internet searches that's the best price I've seen yet. I would like 2 heifers and a bull to get 2 calves from and raise yearling for the freezer unless they are heifers too.

He was asking 350 apiece, I asked if there was a discount for two, he said he would drop it to 300, after some googling for prices, that does seem really cheap

That's the kind of blessing you don't want to pass up. But......
