yes, but a different breed than mallard, they are too skittish, they still are very untrusting, ours will let us get about 2-3 feet then they start moving

I was looking at rouens. Same coloring as mallards, but bigger and flightless. They also tend to go broody.

Everything I find says they have "good" hardiness...whatever that means.

Apparently Blue Swedish are really cold tolerant

the only other ones we can order through our local store is white pekins, but they are suppose to be much more docile, anything else I would have to look elsewhere, my concern with pekins is that my wife will adopt them into her flock of girls that are off limits

I got some of my chickens from Meyer Hatchery and they carry a good selection of ducks.  The others I picked up at Tractor Supply.  When Im ready, I'll see what duck breeds Tractor Supply has and if it's not ones Im interested in, I'll probably just order from Meyers.

Im looking at the Blue Swedish,  Buffs, Cayugas, Rouens, Khaki Campbells and Muscovys.  I'll probably put all of this off until I get a pond installed.  It will be too much work to have to deal with all of the water issues on top of the kids, dog, chickens, and rabbit that Im already dealing with before I head to work in the am.

they came back! At least our loving couple did.

I think they are just using me for food now.
