Something I have been thinking about a lot lately, anyone know a real ugly looking breed that isn't all cute and fluffy? Good article from the Maine Organic Association

We've been raising rabbits for a long time. I started out with British Giants. They were excellent meat rabbits. One of the mothers shot out 15 babies and all but one lived. The feed bill is pretty high but to me it's worth it. I don't even bother with wild rabbits anymore. We are raising a smaller breed now but we usually have more of them so the feed bill is about the same.
I noticed in the picture that the rabbits were on the ground. I've never raised them like that. The old timers told me a long time ago that I should raise them in raised cages to lessen the chance of disease. I can't tell you if thats true since I've never done it.
Here is a picture of Ol' Granddad. He was a British Giant and produced us a lot of food. And BTW.....they aint no ugly rabbits, brother.
