And so it begins...
A friend of my wife posted this pic on facebook the other day
She said it was one of several swarms in this tree, so I called my buddy's granddad, who agreed to teach me and let me help him with his bees this year, to see if he did swarm removal. He does do swarm removal, so it looks like he and I are headed out to try and wrangle some bees tomorrow...I'll try to post some pics of the process if I get a chance, and I don't get engulfed by angry bees.

No stings, but no swarm removal either. When we got there the swarms had moved on. There was a colony living inside a hole in the trunk, but the only way to get them out would've been cutting the tree, so the wild bees are gonna stay in the tree for the time being. It was interesting though, we walked up to the entrance of the hive and the bees came and went without paying us any attention at all. I'm going to be helping my mentor gather honey from his give in the next few weeks, so that should be fun.
