I have a gsd and a dobie. My dobie gets too cold and my gsd is just a pup (5 1/2 months and 62 pounds) If it was warm I would get another olde english bull and a gsd. My olde english bull was absolutely fearless and unvelievable strong and fast. He would have been a great catch dog for boar hunting. 19959_555108236821_34004178_32584896_5245708_n.jpg

A good friend of mine is HUGE into boar hunting and uses his dogs. He has a couple Jagd terriers for running them down and then has a 130lb Mastiff/Bulldog mix to use as a catchdog. They catch a lot of hogs. Thats one of the main reasons that I cant wait to move to Houston, so I can start harvesting pigs and keeping my freezer full of pork.

I have a GSD I can mail ya.

If he was a human you would be ready to fight in a few mins of meeting him.

Our yorkie tries to chase the chickens, funny part is that she is half the size of a chicken

I've had a GSD. If you get a good one they're great, but if you get a lemon, watchout!

Jack Russell Terrier or a pug, in a true shtf scenario. You want something that is small, doesn't eat a lot, has a heart of a lion and is fearless. Jack russells are small game hunting dogs and pugs have been documented as having saved royalty from assasins by alerting them. I have a rott/gsd mix, full german and a pug, the pug is the alarm system for our other two dogs. I don't depend on my dogs to save me, I just want them to give me a heads up

I'm leaning more towards a dog that can fend off coyotes and hang with the animals during the day, and at night they can be in the house keeping a watchful eye. Maybe the best would be a combo of a JRT or Jagd terrier and a bigger herding dog. You could go smaller with the herding dog and use an Aussie cattle dog/Blue Heeler. Maybe that would solve both issues.

every farmer around here has either a heeler or aussie, I like the heeler b/c they are nice compact dogs , and how healthy they are (i beleive the record for longevity was a heeler) but my favorite dog so far is a Karelian Bear dog.
