Anyone's dogs act as peacekeepers around the house? Our gsd does some, if my wife and daughter start rough housing, she tries to get in between them, I've never seen dogs to this before though

We have a 65# female chocolate lab who gets a miffed when my kids and I roughhouse.  She's not aggressive, but will woof at us until we break it up.

She also strategically places herself between my kids and any strangers who are at the house and hovers around the kids when they play in the back yard.  She'll woof on occasion, but usually just stares down whoever is there-my parents, wife's friends, etc.

I have to have people keep their hands up when they come to the house so the gsd can sniff them, once she is satisfied, she leaves them alone, but keeps an eye on them, if we get a dog again, it will be in the spring so we can better socialize them

Our Shepherd has to be chained when my daughter and I wrestle or even sword fight.

He will grab my ankle and drag me across the room otherwise. Not in a nice way. lol

Not sure if peacekeeping or just being loyal to his owner, either way I appreciate his actions.

Had a Red nose Staff for twelve years and she wouldn't get off the couch if someone kicked in the front door, but would defend the cat with her life.

I wrestle with my kids every day.  My beagle will be snoring on the couch unless there's food in the area.
