My son has been asking for a bunny for his birthday all year.   I've told him his chores are to take care of the dog for the last two months and if he does that then we would consider it.  He did as well as a 5 year old can and now that the time has come, my wife and I have caved and resolved ourselves to get him the rabbit.  So, being a permaculturist, I've already got a rabbit hutch and am starting to work on the worm bin to go underneath it and the rabbit tractor to get it some forage.  Does anyone have any experience with raising rabbits?  My goal is to keep it as an outside animal although I know many people keep rabbits as pets inside.

did some googling, they seem to do okay in the cold, do you have a space in the garage to overwinter if needed?

I do.  I overwintered the chickens there last year when after one got frostbitten in the coop.

Im trying to decide now if I should insulate the roof of my coop or if I should try to put a living roof on.  Trying to figure out which would be easiest and least expensive.
