Well this next crop of chicks will be for egg production "egg slaves" not pets so I was thinking just two breeds RI Reds and Buff Orpingtons.

 Both from what I have read are the best two "most productive" egg layers in cold climates.

 

The hens in the pics are pretty much pets.  I'm not looking at the new hens that way.  🙂
