Very interesting...He is a farmer in VT. He collects food waste from restaurants and allows the chickens to browse the compost pile. The pile contains not only food waste but equine manure and bovine manure. The pile needs to be hot enough to melt snow and ice in winter. He also provides bark and hay to the chickens. He did say that he has gotten to where he feeds no grain other than what they find in the compost pile.
I know my chickens love our pile but it has way more goat droppings and wasted hay than food scraps.
