So mine have been outside now for a few days. I have been working on the coop, haven't made much progress. The dog has been waiting for us to go inside and then she goes around sniffing the coop in a way that is more than just curious. I am interested to see how this turns out.

lol, so the birds egg production dropped down to nothing, looked all over, couldn't find any, was walking by the compost pile the other day and one of the hens was lying under it, moved some compost

KVR -- were those rotten or GTG? You don't have a rooster right so they won't be fertilized, right?

Here is my progress with the coop.

Fenced in.

Door cut.

Water bucket in run with nipples on the bottom -- they were going crazy drinking water today.

I further trimmed the edge of the fencing so that it couldn't be pulled away from the frame. I will be painting the run whenever I get around the buying some white barn paint.

very nice, keep a eye on the water, I think we had talked about this, people say they can't get enough from the nipples and are constantly dehydrated, it's might be why they were going crazy with it

No rooster, eggs should have been fine, you would be surprised how long they will last if you don't was them, I gave them as a treat to pigs though, they love them

birds are getting big pork

Thanks K. I think they were only going crazy because I don't keep water inside the coop. Not sure if that is a good idea or not but after they drank some water they weren't all rushing it during the day. Yes, birds are getting big. They are funny -- skittish. They hate to be picked up.

We put up some deer fencing on some step in electric plastic fence poles. Pretty cheap and easy to put up and we plan to move this around every week or so. We will see if this holds up to the moving around. The fencing is very weak and is really only there to keep chickens in during the day. We will see if the dog puts up with it. She would rip through it very quickly if she wanted to.

our brahma is the only one that doesn't freak, it's kind of funny, when you bend down to pick her up she squats like she's going to be mounted, my wife finds it amusing

Well, looks like the dog ate a chicken last night. I came home from work and only found 5. Feathers near the area where the dog hangs out.

I am so furious with her but don't know how to reprimand -- can't find the carcass. Today she was out laying but the fence staring at the birds so I gave her a stern no and a shock. We'll see if it does anything but I don't think she is learning anything.
