Our American Bulldog, Beulah, is a rescue of sorts. My wife saw her wandering the highway near our house for a few days and finally stopped and picked her up. When she got her home she was in really bad shape, malnourished and covered in ticks. We got her cleaned up and fattened up over a few months time. I was asleep one day and my wife was working in the yard and this white trash guy pulls up and says that she was his dog. He claimed he had been looking for her for a while, yet he only lived a few blocks from where we lived. My wife didn't want confrontation and gave her to him. I really wished she had woke me up because it would have been a big no from me. Anyway, fast forward about a week or two, and I'm outside just after dark and hear what sounds like a herd of deer running through the woods. I go to see what it is, and it's Beulah running back "home". She had pulled the screw in post she was chained to out of the ground, and was dragging the full length of cable with her, but she was coming home.
White trash guy rode back by our house a few days later and was there. I kindly told him not no, but hell no he wasn't getting her back. I made it clear that he obviously didn't know how to take care of a dog, after we found her in the condition she was in, and that it would be in his best interest if he didn't come back. Granted, I may not have made it sound that nice, but it got my point across.
Now, about two years later, she's still my 65 lb titty baby lap dog, or at least she thinks she's supposed to be a lap dog.
