anyone have experience with turkeys? I never have before, i have heard from a friend who says to raise double what you want because of losing half, is this accurate?

I heard to keep them away from your chickens since the chickens can give them Blackhead disease.

Also, they sometimes get aggresive with the chickens once they can use their size to overwhelm them.

you know that's a good point, I was gonna move my chickens to the barn and raise the turkeys in my existing chicken coop, I wonder if that would be a concern

From what I've seen, once the turkeys get big and heavy the chickens can out run them, if you have a really big park they should get on alright. Speaking of holiday dinner...we have been having rabbit for Easter dinner for the last several years. It really messed with the grandkids but they ate all of it anyway. Then they went to school and said they ate the Easter Bunny over the holiday.

I've never raised them but know several folks who do it with their chickens and have never had a problem. I'm hoping for a wild one for thanksgiving!
