So sick of the mud this year. Everywhere I walk, everywhere I look. Everywhere period! My cow fields are terrible and my cow has still not calved yet. We are supposed to move all but the bull to the back field this week, I know mud doesn't really hurt cattle but I hate seeing them slog around in it. The fencings not done out back so I know what the guys will be doing. They said they'd rather run fence now than when its 100* so more power to them.
Something got several of my chickens the other night, not even sure what my total number is now...very frustrated.
Pigs on the other hand are thriving right along. I now just have the big Hampshire gilt and the 4 Large Blacks. Had the big boar processed and got everything back but the bacon and hams. Those are still smoking. I did find out the hams were 26 lbs. each, happy! His hang weight was 250 something...
Whats going on at your places?
Mud here too. Just trying to get through the winter. It is hard when there is no money to put into things. We've been using old gates to rebuild fences. The horses always seem to find the next place. The chickens are going in every night and staying safe. I'm trying to maintain a reasonable work schedule in between snowy roads. Getting ready to start seeds.
