This happened once in the Fall. Previously, some pliers, wrapping the dog in a piece of carpet, and some cursing and they were all out. Today the dog just wasn't having any of it and I gave up to take her in to a vet. I had to drive ~45 minutes to take her to a vet we have never been to before. They wouldn't give me a price quote over the phone. I get in there and they say it is going to be between $275 and $310. !!!!!!!!

%$#&%$%^$%$^%$%^

I am already there and late for work so I begrudgingly say go for it. Next time I am giving the dog some Benadryl and going to town.

P.S. the vet laughed at me when I told her I tried to use nail clippers to 'clip' the end of the quills to allow them to deflate. She said just rip them out next time. F

I am contemplating getting a stuffed animal porcupine or something and giving her a shock via a shock collar if you gets close to it. I can't believe how expensive this is. I am buying a "carry-all" for my tractor and putting some split rail fence in by the end of the driveway and it is not this expensive.

I just talked to a coworker -- one of their dogs had some many quills in their mouth that she just had to put her down. Glad that isn't my dog but man, you think she would learn.

my first malamute NEVER learned his lesson! at least once a year he would come home with a snoot full. the first park i was a ranger at had a stuffed one for education programs. Trouble would stalk that thing everytime he saw it (full low crouch ninja crawl) and end up poking him self a few times, but that would be it- I think the fight/chase is what gets em so covered in the things.

leatherman & a sterm voice, I say!

Hmmm, not encouraging. Our dog has some malamute in her. Just got the damage. $260.90. #$^*^%##@#@
