We've live here now since March, and have always come back to wanting donkeys. Long story short: my husband found someone in town giving away two "mini" donkeys. I was still at work, but by the end of the day we were proud new owners of said donkeys. I was home when the trailer backed in to drop them off. I quickly knew we were in trouble when I could see their headsin the top of the trailer. Then, out goes the first donkey...the female. She's skin and bones, looks like an albino moose that should've died of natural causes in 1999. She's gorgeous. Then comes the jack...he's stout, fat and really kind of cute. Still not a total mini, but much smaller than her. This is day 3 (I think), and I've gone from being really nervous around them to saying good morning and tucking them in every night. They're fun and hope they like it here. Tomorrow the jack becomes a gelding and they're getting their hooves cleaned up as well as getting them de-wormed and vaccinated. The male (brown) is called Willie (formerly Wilbur), and we have the white one (formerly Misty) down to either Rose, Luna or Opal.
