I'm happy to report the donkeys made it through their first winter at the "farm"!  They've adjusted and seem to be happy here, and Ole Willie is pretty feisty/ornery, but very kind hearted.  He got a little carried away and our old gal kicked him in the side, or at least tried to although she's old as dirt. They're entertaining to say the least!

I can't wait to get a donkey next year!  I want a donkey more than chickens and goats.  I would love mules, but I would never work them the way they should be, can't have that big of a hay burner hanging around.

Chickens are fun for sure, but there's something pretty cool about having a couple donkeys hanging around in the pasture.  Not that I'm that knowledgeable with donkeys,  but I'd recommend getting 2 if you can swing it.  Apparently they get rather lonely and love the companionship of other donkeys (and usually every other kind of livestock).

a good practice for any animal, especially pigs, a bored animal can be a destructive one

So I figured I'd do a little update as far as what's been going on at "the farm" as of late.  There's been a lot, so I'll try to get to it quickly.  The donkeys are doing well, so well in fact, that we decided to get 2 mini-Sicilian donkeys from a breeder on Facebook.  They were advertised as an 8 year old female and her 8 week old female baby.  Cute as a button they are!  Well, once they were delivered, the owner told us that the 8 year old was likely pregnant and we'd be getting another mini this spring.  HOW exciting?  We figured they're small enough we won't notice another mouth to feed...

I'm attempting to attach pictures (which I can't remember how to do), so I apologize if things get jumbled.  Here's hopefully a picture of Belle and her baby (not yet named).

I accidentally lost my last post.  Anyway, we added the minis to the farm on July 4th...then on Friday July 15th, my husband called and explained (in a pretty understandable panic) that there was another donkey in our barn, and it seems that our discount donkeys, Opal & Willie had arrived at the farm last August expecting an additional donkey...unbeknownst to us and the multiple visits from our vets lol.  CRAZY!  So, meet Waylon.

I'm just going to throw in some other random farm pics just b/c I'm logged in and think they're sort of neat.
