My wife and I were walking out to the car one morning and my wife looked over at the chicken coop and said what's that? I looked over and said looks like a skunk, sure enough it was. And a dead chicken, great way to start the morning.
So I went and grabbed my 10/22 and proceeded to unload a 10 round mag into to skunk.
So 2 nights later I get a phone call from my wife, she's gagging and can barely tell me the dogs killed another skunk. So I rushed back to the house and sure enough there's another skunk inside the yard twitching. So I went and got my 10/22 again and put that one out of it's misery.
The natural born killers.
I have no one to blame but myself, I didn't put a board along the bottom of the coop that faces out yard. I never thought of a animal coming into the yard like that, lesson learned
another change I need to make is to raise the door/gate up a bit. I installed a kick plate in front of it to keep any animal from digging underneath it and it creates a dam effect when the snow is melting and freezing causing a bit of a pain to open the coop
The rest of them seem to be doing fine though and are kicking out 2 to 4 eggs a day.
