For the feast of Saint Urbain, the herds of sheep move up to the Aubrac plateau from the surrounding valleys and spend all summer in the green pasture areas, before moving back down in October for the feast of Saint Géraud.
Since 1993, this ancient tradition of transhumance has been a great colourful, lively and popular festival which takes place on the Sunday closest to 25 May at Col de Bonnecombe in Lozère. A number of events take place to accompany the movement of the decorated herds, with a meal on the grass which includes the compulsory aligot (mashed potato with cheese and garlic).
Beautiful cinematography
