I hadn't thought of adding it to their dust bath, should probably make sure the coals are all out, or else that would be a very bad day

interesting. i already use the ash in my compost and flowering/fruiting trees, but i always have more than i need.

The wood ash is good to use because it will keep the mites off your chickens

i just started doing this for the chickens up here, they love it. almost any time of day i see at least one of them flapping around giving himself a dust bath.

I put some out yesterday for the first time. So far they've only tried to eat it. We'll see today if any of them figure out what it's for.
