my plan is to raise fish on my property. When we harvest, there will be alot of leftover guts and skin. I know the earthworms might help with some, but there will likely be more than they can digest.

My question is, Will chickens eat the fish guts?

chickens will eat just about anything. they will eat their own shit so i don't think they will hesitate to eat some fish guts. i think the question is whether or not they will eat it fast enough, which depends upon the number of fish you are processing and the number of chickens you have to eat the leftovers.

throw anything extra into a compost pile under a thick layer of leaves, grass clippings etc. with a clear tarp over it to superheat it. you only need to reach like 70c to burn through anything alive in the pile so one good warm sunny day should do it.

You could also use them to trap racoons. If Im not mistaken they like that fish smell a lot. Reading this magazine that my dad has on trapping has people making some decent money from it.

On a similar note, are there any guts from animals that I should avoid feeding my dog? Specifically, any certain organs I should always avoid?

Feed them back to the remaining fish. Maybe not all of it but they should be able to take care of some of it.

And some of the other critters that use the pond will help as well.

how about pigs? each summer I harvest 100's of lbs of salmon and we usually send the entrails down the river. I wonder if you can give the pigs the guts . the dogs get theirs , usually after filleting the fish the spine , head , tails etc get jarred and mixed in with dogfood. if pigs/chickens eat these entrails then nothing would be wasted.
