If you are ever looking to get a cat, look at a Maine Coon, they are the only cats we have ever had that show affection and a personality, they are awesome,

plus they are just so darn cute

my wife use to shave ours every summer because of the knots, she would sit like this and just stare at you, all pissed off, man I miss that cat

Love them! I gotta say, my Siamese (only house cat I have ever had) has a ton of personality and quirks. Very affectionate, mischievous and protective of me...he is good with my wife...but he has deep loyalty to me since I was the one who rescued him off the streets and got him back on his feet when he was a kitten. Plus he loves the Sauna at 118f, hangs out in there as long as we will let him....figures I would have a quirky cat.
