Jeez and I thought I had a problem with the cats that run free around the neighborhood, what are the rules in your state if an animal is assaulting your livestock? Here we can shoot it.
CUMBERLAND FURNACE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- The owner of a red shepherd mix was charged with leaving her Dog at Large after it allegedly killed or devoured 21 chickens and 11 ducks a resident raised to feed his family.
According to the report from Montgomery County Animal Control, the attacks took place over a month until the owner of the livestock called MCAC. The report states the livestock was valued around $400 and was able to finally lure it into capture by using the rest of a chicken the dog had killed.

If a dog is harassing/attacking your live stock, you can shoot to kill when it's happening then call LEO. Need to be 500ft from residences that are not yours. I know the higher end air rifles that are pretty lethal are starting to be used by farmers here...not that they are following the set back of 500'. It's a shame people let their dogs run wild in the country. ...also, you can go after the owner of the animal for damages and the owner is simply on the hook for the live stock. We had a case where a dog was running and biting our horses...called LEO and he told the dog owner that he would be on the hook if the horse beaks it leg or other injury...oh well.
