oh yeah, thats nothing especially for that region. you're talking about one of the most stable climates in the united states, extremely fertile land and 180 degree ocean views. just a few miles inland you've got the bread basket of the entire united states.
easiest way to explain it is like this: take the most fertile piece of land you know of, with one of the best views you've ever seen. now, you know those nice days during the end of summer when its not too hot, but it hasn't gotten too cold yet, like a mild 72-75 during the day and high 40's low 50's at night? yeah add that to the land mentioned for 11 months out of the year and that's santa barbara/mendocino.
