I would zone it, yes a pump can move it through there but you might be left with cool spots the last half of the loop in the center of the home. It also could negatively impact the boiler depending on the temperature drop in the return side. I had a calculator resource somewhere for radiant heat, I'll have to look for it.

Thanks KVR...Building a manifold for control is easy and three valves is very doable...appreciate the help.

I believe 1/2 inch pex is recommended for no longer than a 250-300 foot run, are you thinking of running it into the garage as well?

1/2...okay...1 run would be about 150 to 160' (total of 3 loops)...cool..just got to buy the right pex (that oxygen thing that I need to read up on.

I am not sure about the garage...I am thinking it is the one chance I have to do it before we place concrete...on the other had, we weren't planning on insulating under the garage floor to save on $$, so without insulation I don't think the pex would do much good there...right?

What's the total additional cost to do the garage? Insulation and PEX.

While it may seem like a lot now it would open future options (if you ever wanted to build it out or use it as a workshop).

Also, while concrete isn't a great thermal conductor, it's not bad. Unless you thermally break the main slab from the garage slab, you'll be losing some heat through the garage in the winter.

We have a house with an enclosed car port (someone built it out as a garage at some point). Unfortunately, there's no insulation in the wall between the garage and the house. That end of our house is always cooler or warmer than the rest of the house.

@KVR is that just for frictional losses? The shorter the run, the smaller the pump required.

K, yes there will be 2 inch of Rigid between house and garage, I estimate the insulation and pex will be about $1,100 at this time.  I could drop down from 2" rigid to 1" to save some $$ but I think that even with the sand under it that it will break up as we walk on it placing concrete.?

@gravel-road yeah, without the insulation it would be pointless

@icanreachit I believe more to do with heat loss from the loop, I believe with 3/4 pex you can run up to 500 feet
