K, would it be a waste/not needed to go up to 3/4 for a '150' loop?  The reason I ask is that for the potable supply we are going to run a 3/4 trunk and branch off with 1/2...my thought is that I just buy a large roll of 3/4 (depending on price point that is)

Thanks

could, only issue you might run into is getting a decent bend into tight spaces, the 3/4 is pretty stiff. I couldn't find the calculator I was looking for but this reference guide should help.

Gotcha, so after a 250-300 foot run you're outta juice. Makes sense - surface area of PEX outside to the volume of water passing through.

I think the other concern is it lowers the temp to much on the return line causing the boiler to overwork

That makes sense. All homes in Patagonia had radiators in every room so that you could control everything independently with a little valve on the radiator. Might be neat to install valves for the in slab loops so that you can control them. If Gravel wanted to work in the garage, he could turn on that loop, otherwise it stays closed.

Hey there I:  the systems I have seen all seem to be a little different from barometric/electronically controlled flow for the 'professional/high end installs...to simplistic ball valves.  We have at least decided to put the 3 loops in the house and plan to go with a simple manifold that I will probably build out of brass, coming off the manifold I plan to use boiler/ball valves for each loop and that way we can adjust the flow as desired...turns out my neighbor did this and he said he has 3 settings: off, fall/spring, and winter and it has been fine...sounds good to me...simple too...always open to input.

did he put any type of pressure valve in his system or just depend on the relief from the boiler itself?

Actually...it is about as simple as it gets...He runs it off a 10 or 20 gal dedicated hot water heater, has a small pressure tank, and a 1/2 horse circulating pump...pretty much all for free...the pressure relief utilizes the one from the HW heater...no issues so far.
