Very cool. How long should you let the logs sit to dry before building? About a year?

Not to discount their work but that seemed rather easy. Kind of gets me thinking too. I'd love to have a project like this.

Ideally, yes, many a trappers cabin was made with fresh cut logs though

well, some things I didnt like about this......

 

2x4 for the floor?

no pressure treated wood?

tarp roofing?

gas can inside?

fuel tank so close to the exhaust?

top window opens inward?

I agree with you.  I was really against the tarp roof, and the lack of foundation (or using treated wood).  He said the foundation would probably last 25-50 years, but would you really want to have and try to replace the rotten logs at the bottom of the structure?  And I chuckled when he said the tarps would last 5-10 years.  The top window opening inwards seemed really odd given the confined area.
