We did post and pier for our 24x32 1.5 story cabin. I am having issues with feeling vibrations or movement in the floor. In looking at this picture I think I need the diagonal supports. Mine are 4x4 treated posts resting on a concrete footer. These look a lot more robust than mine. Thanks for the link!

My deck has this type of foundation, it is rock solid and has one hell of a load bearing rating.

if you add diagonal bracing that should fix any movement issues

That's good to know -- we don't have any. It's strange... when someone walks upstairs you can feel movement downstairs. Or if someone jumps up and down you can feel it in the whole house. I think I will research the diagonal bracing some more. I wonder if there is a science to it or if I can just put the V shapped supports at every pier.

EDIT:

There is the picture you posted with the V-bracing and this picture with X-bracing. I only have ~2 feet from the ground to the bottom of the house so I am thinking the V-bracing will be sufficient. There isn't much out there on the internet discussing this, at least that I can find.

The bottom board would be helpful for skirting the bottom, which is something I want to do.

the idea of the diagonal bracing in your case is just to stop the pier "rotation" from it's "axis" that would be the footer.

I don't think the X vs the V will be nessary unless you need to up the load capacity of your piers
